Virgo

As with many signs, there are a few stories related to the sign. The most popular of these is the story of Demeter the goddess of the harvest, and her daughter, Persephone. It’s said that it was once always springtime on Earth. This all ended when hades fell in love with Persephone and kidnapped her – taking her to the underworld. Demeter became so sad, she neglected the earth. Zeus then stepped in and demanded that Hades return Persephone so that Demeter would make the earth fruitful again. She was returned on the condition that she would return to the underworld for four months every year. Thus, till today Persephone spends four months in Hades, during which Demeter gets wrapped in sadness and winter is at its worst. She is returned every spring, and the earth blooms.
